GILBERT, AZ (CBS5) -

One person has been killed and two others have been seriously injured in a head-on crash in Gilbert.

Gilbert police spokesman Sgt. Bill Balafas said a silver Pontiac passenger crossed the centerline while traveling on Williams Field Road, near Parkcrest and hit a Ford pickup truck early Tuesday afternoon.

Balafas said the 28-year-old man driving the Pontiac died on impact. The driver of the pickup truck is in critical condition and the passenger of the truck is in serious condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Balafas said Williams Field Road between Higley Road and San Tan/202 exit reopened about 6 p.m.
