PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A motorcycle driver and passenger died when their bike struck a vehicle making a left turn on a city street, Phoenix police said.
Police identified the victims on Tuesday morning as Jeremy Steves and Chantal Larrabee, both 22 years old.
The crash happened about 6:15 p.m. Monday near Seventh Street and the Loop 101.
Phoenix police said a vehicle was attempting to turn left onto northbound Seventh Street from the stop sign at Oraibi Drive when it collided with the motorcycle that was southbound on Seventh Street.
Police said both people on the motorcycle were wearing helmets but because of the high speed impact with the drive's door, they both died from their injuries.
Police said witnesses reported the motorcycle darting in and out of traffic and driving at a high speed prior to the crash.
The 32-year-old driver of the vehicle suffered serious injuries but is expected to be OK. She was traveling with two children, ages 8 and 11, who were not injured, Crump said.
Police said there were no indications of driver impairment. The case remains under investigation.
