Diana Lewis
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
A Phoenix woman suspected of burglarizing several Valley homes suffered a leg injury during a struggle with officers who were trying to arrest her, Scottsdale police said.
Scottsdale police detectives said they received tips on Thursday about a suspect believed to be connected to two home burglaries in Scottsdale on Aug. 10.
Their investigation led them to identify the suspect as Diana Lewis. A surveillance operation was launched and on Thursday, she was seen entering the back door of a home in the 7200 block of North 17th Avenue, officers said.
Police followed her to a fast food restaurant at 35th Avenue and Glendale Road, where she reportedly tried to escape after officers took her into custody.
Once she was captured, Lewis was taken to Maryvale Hospital for treatment of her injury. Afterwards, she was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on burglary and other related charges.
Search warrants were served on her home in Phoenix and on her vehicle. Police said they recovered cash, jewelry and various items tying Lewis to the Phoenix burglary and the two earlier burglaries from the 7700 block of East Roosevelt and the 7300 block of East Portland in Scottsdale.
