GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, AZ (CBS5) -
DPS has pulled 28 buses out of the Grand Canyon fleet after they failed inspections.
DPS said the annual inspection, in collaboration with the National Parks Service, was completed Aug. 15.
DPS said the 28 vehicles had mechanical violations including faulty brakes, tires, exhaust leaks, turn signals and battery corrosion.
Seven drivers, or 4 percent, were taken off the job for false records of duty status, suspended driver's license and not wearing required corrective lenses. Another 28 drivers were cited by the National Park Service for permit violations.
DPS said one driver was arrested for an unpaid Commercial Violation from two years ago.
