LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Clark County Coroner's office released the name of a sword-wielding man who was shot when he tried holding up a Las Vegas Dairy Queen.

Bongkuk Pak, 36, died of a gunshot wound to the torso as a result of the incident, the coroner's office said Monday.

Las Vegas Metro police said Pak used a samurai-style sword to rob the business located on S. Maryland Parkway near Sahara Avenue on Sunday.

According to police, an employee of the Dairy Queen retrieved a gun and shot Pak multiple times. Pak was transported to Sunrise Hospital Trauma Center, where he later died, Metro said.

Pak was identified by the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) as a former part-time social services instructor, last teaching in the fall of 2010.

Police also announced on Monday that a woman identified as the alleged getaway driver in the hold-up was in custody.

Carol Matteo, 47, of Las Vegas, was charged on counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary, Metro said.

Matteo was booked into Clark County Detention Center.

According to an arrest report, Matteo told detectives she and Pak first went to the Las Vegas Athletic Club at Karen and Maryland, and that Pak said he "was going to jack a person up at the club."

Matteo told police she talked Pak out of it because "his family works out in that facility."

She then scouted several other restaurants, including a Subway and Dominos in the same shopping center as the Dairy Queen.

But according to the report, Matteo determined neither would provide a quote "good recovery of money."

Matteo then went into the Dairy Queen, telling officers she asked employees about cakes.

She left, then telling Pak the store was also no good for a robbery, according to the report.

But the report states Pak went in anyway covering his face with a white t-shirt and armed with a samurai sword.

The report also said Matteo admitted to police Pak stole a purse from a woman at a home on Baltinglass Street, a day before the Dairy Queen robbery.
