NEWINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

Newington police arrested a New Britain woman after she attempted to "stab" an officer with a pair of needle-nose pliers during a traffic stop Monday morning.

An officer noticed a motor vehicle in the roadway on East Cedar Street, which "posed a hazard to traffic," just after 7 a.m., according to a police release.

Emelie Hall, 22, was the only person in the car, police said. After reviewing her information, police found out that her license was suspended and the vehicle was unregistered. The officer told Hall that her car was going to be towed.

Police said Hall "became aggressive and emotional" upon hearing the news. While removing her personal belongings from the motor vehicle, Hall grabbed a pair of needle-nose pliers and tried to "stab" the officer with it, the release said.

Hall was disarmed and arrested. While under arrest, Hall would try to bite an officer, but she was unsuccessful, according to police.

Hall was charged with interfering with a police officer, assault on a police officer and criminal attempt to commit assault on a police officer as well as several motor vehicle charges.
