QUEEN CREEK, AZ (CBS5) -
A toddler who died in a monsoon flood was remembered Saturday while his community helped raise money for the family.
Dylan Brown, 2, drowned when he fell into a flooded wash at the end of July in Queen Creek, according to authorities.
The flood waters swept the little boy downstream and changed the Brown family forever.
But from time to time, tragedy unites complete strangers.
"It was amazing because a lot of people don't even know the Brown family personally," said family friend Whitney Hemsath.
Community members did Zumba dance in Queen Creek Saturday to raise money for the Brown family.
"They're doing incredible, all things considered," said Hemsath.
The strangers and friends were hoping to lend a helping hand and give a little bit of money and a little bit of love in memory of an energetic little boy.
"He had more energy than every Zumba dancer we had out here today," said Hemsath, "He probably fit in 22 years worth of energy and love for live in the 22 months he were here with us on the earth."
If you would like to donate to the family, Hemsath said you may do so in person at the Desert Schools Federal Credit Union under the name Dylan Brown or on PayPal using the email address dylandeebrown@gmail.com.
