SUN CITY, AZ (CBS5) -
Everyone has something they want to cross off their bucket list, right? A Valley organization wants to help make that happen.
They made a man's dying wish come true by reuniting him with his daughter who he hadn't seen in over a decade.
It was an emotional day for Harley James Kennedy. He's made peace with the fact his time on Earth is coming to an end. But he wanted one last thing before he left: to see his daughter.
"He's disappearing before my eyes, he's lost so much weight," said Sandra Kennedy. She's been married to Harley Kennedy since 1995.
Once full of life, he is bedridden with stage 4 lung cancer.
"It hurts," he said.
Harley Kennedy was diagnosed in January. He went through chemo, but it didn't help.
"I keep trying, I keep pushing," said Harley Kennedy.
He kept pushing because he wanted to cross one last thing off his "bucket list." He wanted to see his daughter Patty, who he hadn't seen in 12 years.
"The main thing I wanted, I wanted to see Patty," he said.
Harley Kennedy got his wish. He and Patty also went out to lunch at his favorite restaurant to catch up.
"My heart filled with joy, but then again it sank because of his condition," said daughter Patty Swiers.
She lives in Georgia and couldn't afford to come out on her own.
"We just don't have enough income, we can pay our bills and that's about it. It's really hard right now," Swiers said.
Kimberly Iverson is a hospice nurse who founded the Bucket List Foundation. She got wind of their story and offered to help pay for Swiers flight to Arizona.
"I've seen so many wishes gone unmet over the years, things that our senior population wanted to do," Iverson said.
Harley Kennedy knows his days are numbered, but he said seeing his daughter is good medicine.
"I'm so glad what they done for me and I'll never forget them," he said.
