Construction closure on Northern Avenue postponed

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Construction on Northern Avenue has been postponed until September 10, according to Arizona Department of Transportation.

The closure at Northern Avenue between Sarival Avenue and Cotton Lane had been slated to start on Monday, Aug. 20.

Once the closure is in place next month, crews will reconstruct the intersection at Loop 303 and Northern Avenue as part of a $65.1 million project to upgrade Loop 303 between Glendale and Peoria avenues.

The project is scheduled to be done in fall of 2013.

ADOT plans to complete all work to widen Loop 303 between Interstate 10 and Grand Avenue by fall of 2014.
