BISBEE, AZ (AP) -
Police in the southern Arizona city of Bisbee say a former Cochise County jail detention officer is facing charges after 260 pounds of marijuana was found in his pickup truck.
Authorities say 44-year-old Armando Morales resigned while being booked into the county jail Wednesday. He bonded out Thursday by posting a $40,000 bail.
County sheriff's officials said Friday that they didn't know if Morales has a lawyer.
Bisbee police say officers received a tip that a truck carrying marijuana may be coming through town. They stopped Morales' pickup Wednesday afternoon because it matched the description and was speeding.
A search found 227 pounds of marijuana under the hood, in the spare tire and in two other hiding spots. A second search Thursday located a hidden compartment holding 33 more pounds.
