MESA, AZ (CBS5) -
An encounter among some friends ended with the arrests of four people, including a 16-year-old boy, on suspicion of robbery, Mesa police said.
Two women and the boy arrived at a home Wednesday night and the occupants began to proposition the women for sexual favors, police said.
The women became nervous and requested to be taken home, officers said. The suspects refused and told them they would not take them anywhere unless they paid them $10 for gas, according to officers.
Police said the women called two friends to pick them up. When they arrived, the suspects confronted them and one of them tried to reach into the vehicle to take the victim's wallet out of his pocket, according to officers. The victim, a 21-year-old man, slapped the suspect's hand away, police said.
A second suspect brandished a shotgun and made threatening statements, officers said. The suspect then took the victim's wallet from his pocket, removing a debit card and $3, according to police.
During the confrontation, both the men who had driven to the house were struck in the head by one or more of the suspects, police said. The women got in the vehicle and all the victims drove away from the scene and called 911.
Multiple police units, including the air unit, rushed to the scene. Five people emerged from the house and police conducted interviews that identified the four suspects. A search warrant was served at the residence and the shotgun, a pistol and the victim's debit card were recovered.
The juvenile suspect was booked on a warrant and referred on robbery charges.
The three male suspects are identified as Kishawn Allen, 19; Elijah Harper, 20; and Jeffery Thomas, 24. They were booked into jail on robbery charges.
