PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Department of Public Safety officers are searching for a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene of a deadly rollover crash late Wednesday night on Interstate 17 near the Sunset Point rest stop.
Jason Gowens, 41, of Prescott Valley, was killed in the crash that happened just before midnight. He was the only person in the vehicle, officers said.
There was no indication the driver was speeding, Sgt. Jim Haas said.
Police said Gowens changed lanes from left to right and struck the other vehicle, causing the rollover, and the driver of that vehicle took off from the scene.
Gowens was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police said they have no suspect or vehicle description at this time.
The southbound lanes of the highway were shut down overnight but have reopened.
