Anthony "Tony" Parrinello
PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Phoenix police said an argument between two men at a New River grade school might have led to a fatal hit-and-run Monday morning.
Sgt. Trent Crump said witnesses told police that Anthony "Tony" Parrinello, 31, and Carmelo D'Alessandro, 42, got into the argument at Canyon Springs School and then agreed to fight at a nearby business, Crump said.
D'Allessandro failed to show, witnesses said, and Parrinello went looking for him. D'Allessandro was walking to his home when he was struck, according to court documents.
D'Allessandro's body was found about 11 a.m. in the roadway and he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died, Crump said.
Police said Parrinello and his vehicle were found at his place of employment. They said there was damage to the vehicle and signs that someone tried to clean it up.
Crump said Parrinello admitted to the argument, but denied hitting D'Allessandro with his vehicle.
Parrinello was arrested and booked into jail on one count of second-degree murder.
The Deer Valley Unified School spokeswoman Heidi Vega said D'Allessandro was a parent of one boy and three stepchildren in the district. Parrinello has one step child attending school in the district, Vega said.
