PHOENIX (AP) -
The Arizona Supreme Court is scheduled to rule Tuesday on the appeal of a man sentenced to death in 2009 in the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend.
A Maricopa County Superior Court jury convicted Isiah Patterson of first-degree murder in the 2006 killing of 32-year-old Consquelo Barker outside his Mesa apartment.
The victim was stabbed 13 times, and the jury found that the killing was especially cruel.
The jury also determined there were no circumstances warranting leniency in sentencing.
