MESA, AZ (CBS5) -
A dog was killed when fire broke out at a Mesa motorhome Monday afternoon, fire officials said.
The blaze started around 3:30 p.m. at the structure at 156 N. Hawes.
The fire spread from the motorhome to a collection of debris, then into a tree and a house that was unoccupied, according to Rural Metro spokesman Colin Williams.
When firefighters found it safe to begin their investigation, they discovered a dead chihuahua.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No other information was available.
