MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

Police credit neighbors for helping catch two men suspected of burglarizing a nearby apartment.

Neighbors told police they saw two men breaking an apartment window and entering the residence.  As the two men left the apartment, they were confronted by neighbors.

Mesa Police said Shane T. Turner, 33, ran away from the neighbors and was later taken into custody.  The second suspect, Matthew A. Massingill, 24, tried to fight the neighbors and suffered a hit in the head from a wooden bat.  Massingill ended up with a cut on his forehead.

Turner and Massingill could face charges of criminal damage and residential trespassing.

Massingill was taken to Banner Desert Hospital, while Turner was taken to the Mesa Police holding facility.
