Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (CBS5) -

An argument over a fare led to the shooting of a Phoenix cab driver Monday morning, Phoenix police said.

Phoenix police said the cabbie was dropping a man and woman off at a Studio 6 hotel near 27th and Union Hills drive about 6 a.m. when they had a dispute over the fare. The man shot the driver in the face and both suspects fled.

The cab driver was able to drive to an AM/PM store near Cactus Road and 28th Avenue for help.

The suspects were still on the loose and police described them as black and both in their early 20s.

The taxi driver was taken to a Phoenix hospital and his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

No other information was immediately available.
