GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
A man who barricaded himself inside a home in Glendale after telling police he had guns and explosives inside surrendered peacefully, police said.
Bruce Wayne-Hathaway, 50, gave himself up after police negotiations. He will be booked into jail on felony warrants and other charges stemming from Sunday afternoon's incident, police said.
Officers were called to the area of 63rd Avenue and Glendale Road at about 3 p.m. after police received a 911 call from his girlfriend.
Officers responded, and when no one opened the door, they entered and saw the couple inside. That's when Wayne-Hathaway started to yell at officers that he had weapons and explosives.
Police closed off Glendale Avenue for several blocks while this was going on.
SWAT officers arrived and treated the situation like a barricade with a hostage, police said. SWAT was able to negotiate and the man gave himself up about an hour after the situation unfolded.
Police said they entered the home and despite the man's threats, found no explosives.
