PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A man is in critical condition after being hit by a pick-up truck in the north part of the city early Sunday morning, police said.
Phoenix police spokesman Lt. Randy Force said a 32-year-old man and his wife were walking along the west side of 7th Street south of Thunderbird Road after a morning hike in the North Mountain Preserve.
Force said a southbound pick-up truck struck the man. The male driver and three occupants of the pick-up stayed on scene until police arrived.
Officers on scene suspect driver impairment may be a contributing factor, said Force.
The man was taken to a local hospital with serious head injuries. The area was closed through the morning for the investigation work.
No other information was immediately available.
