Woman to be re-sentenced in 2007 UA dorm killing

TUCSON, AZ (AP) -

A woman serving a natural life prison term in the 2007 stabbing death of her University of Arizona dorm mate will get a new sentencing hearing.

A Pima County Superior Court judge on Thursday didn't immediately schedule a date for Galareka Harrison's hearing.

Her new attorney argued that two public defenders did a poor job of representing the then 19-year-old Harrison.

Alex Heveri told the Arizona Daily Star (http://bit.ly/OOJGdU) that Harrison should not have ended up in prison for the rest of her life without the possibility of parole.

Harrison was convicted in 2008 in the Sept. 5, 2007, death of 18-year-old Mia Henderson, a fellow Navajo and UA freshman at the time.

Authorities say Henderson was stabbed 23 times after she accused Harrison of stealing from her.
