A wildfire in the Kaibab National Forest is 90 percent contained, according to forestry officials.

The East Fire, which was started by lightning, is burning on the west side of the North Kaibab district near Slide Point.

No structures were ever threatened. The fire has been burning near the boundary with Kanab Creek Wilderness.

Firefighters on Sunday continued to mop up operations by extinguishing hot spots within the fire's perimeter.
