The man found dead inside a truck at the bottom of the Salt River Canyon has been identified.
Pinal County Sheriff's Office spokesman Elias Johnson said Friday that they identified the man as Jeffrey Block, 58, of Apache Junction.
Block's family reported him missing July 26 after he failed to return home from a trip to Show Low with his dog.
The vehicle was discovered Wednesday by a search volunteer near the bottom of the 1,000-foot canyon off U.S. Highway 60.
The volunteer notified the Arizona Department of Public Safety and two officers hiked to the remote scene. They confirmed a dead body was inside the vehicle and it appears to have been there for about two weeks. Block's white dog, Blue, was also found dead at the scene.
DPS is handling the crash investigation and assisting in recovery of the body.
