TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -
AT&T is tired of cleaning up after crooks and is now offering you some big bucks to bust the bad guys.
The company is offering a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of copper thieves.
Just as our cameras headed out with company leaders today to a cell site, they discovered that site had recently been hit.
This makes 20 copper thefts just this year for the company.
"We're working hard to combat the problem. We're working with law enforcement. Tempe police is out here today, they've been supportive in helping us combat this problem but we all need to do more, AT&T's part is to offer a cash reward," explained Arizona/New Mexico AT&T President Jerry Fuentes.
The company has signs posted at its cell sites with the number you can call to report copper thefts.
Callers can remain anonymous.
