Lynda Toraya
PHOENIX (CBS5) -
The mother of an 11-year-old girl said Monday that United Airlines will refund the $99 escort fee after the child walked off the plane alone.
The airline will also give Lynda Toraya and her daughter, Victoria, travel vouchers. Toraya said the customer care supervisor she spoke with informed her the flight attendant will face disciplinary action with a formal complaint.
Victoria had recently flown by herself for the first time and when her fellow passengers started pouring into the gate at Sky Harbor International Airport, Victoria was among the flood of people without an escort in tow, according to her mother.
Toraya said she spoke with the flight attendant, who allegedly blamed it on her daughter.
Toraya also said no one asked her for identification once she retrieved her daughter.
