PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Two men with Dunkin' Donuts ties were caught in the act of holding up a Valley Dunkin' Donuts store, thanks to an alert passing motorist, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said.

Richard Villalobos, 22, was a shift leader at a store at 18490 E. Rittenhouse Rd. that he and Jerett Dowland, 18, were allegedly robbing, MCSO said. Dowland was just recently let go from another Dunkin' Donuts store in Tempe for allegedly stealing credit card numbers, sheriff's investigators said.

The passing motorist told deputies he was watching two men, dressed in black, pointing guns at store employees just after 2 a.m. Monday, MCSO said.

After receiving the 911 call, sheriff's deputies headed to the store where they found the two suspects still in the process of committing the robbery, MCSO said.

Deputies took both suspects into custody without incident. Villalobos and Dowland were booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on felony charges, including armed robbery and kidnapping.

MCSO didn't release the name of the motorist credited for tipping them off.
