Woman sues Valley hospital after she says employee violated her

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A Valley hospital is in big trouble after a woman said she was violated by a hospital employee.

According to the lawsuit, a woman said she was waking up from surgery last July when the man in charge of transporting her exposed and ogled her breasts in a deserted hallway. The woman said she did her best to protest and the employee dropped the sheet, but the whole thing was caught on surveillance tape.

There's something else you need to know. The employee has Huntington's Disease. It's a genetic disorder that affects muscle coordination and leads to cognitive decline and psychiatric problems. Three medical professionals have said he isn't competent to stand trial, and it's why CBS 5 news has decided not to share his name.

The man has been working at the hospital for nearly a decade. His condition is degenerative, meaning it's gotten much worse over the years.

CBS 5 News reached out to Maricopa Medical Center and asked what's being done to protect vulnerable patients and what changes might be made to hospital policies. A spokesperson refused to comment.
