PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -
A Prescott Valley father was arrested for child abuse and aggravated assault on his 9-month-old child.
Ryan Johnson, 39, was arrested after police responded to a call to his house where a child was having difficulty breathing.
Prescott Valley police said the child was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center with a skull fracture, then flown to Phoenix Children's Hospital where doctors revealed a subdural hematoma on the side of the child's head, a skull fracture and strained neck ligaments.
Prescott Valley police officers interviewed Johnson about the findings, police said Johnson denied any involvement. Johnson could not explain the injuries.
Johnson has been booked into Yavapai County Jail charged with child abuse and two counts of aggravated assault. His bond has been set at $500,000. The investigation is still ongoing.
