GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, AZ (AP) -

Biologists said nesting pairs of California condors have produced three chicks on the Arizona strip.

The Peregrine Fund said it made visual confirmation of the number.

The conservation group said separate nesting pairs have each produced a chick inside the Grand Canyon National Park.

Another pair is raising a chick in Vermilion Cliffs National Monument just south of the Utah border.

The Peregrine Fund said there are now 77 condors in a flock that roams the Arizona/Utah border.

The chicks aren't expected to take their first flight until late fall, and will rely on their parents for food for the first 18 months.
