PHOENIX (CBS5) -

One person was arrested on Sunday for setting fire to a sofa inside a three-story apartment building in Phoenix, according to police.

Christopher Patrick Martinez was arrested by an officer who responded to reports of a fight between Martinez and Anthony Morales.

Witnesses reported seeing Martinez walking towards Morales' apartment with a flaming object right before the fire erupted. According to police, the fire was most likely set in retaliation to a previous fight between Morales and Martinez.

Morales said that Martinez went over to his door with a knife and made threats to him. At that time, Morales fled his apartment and when he returned, he found his place on fire, according to police.

Several hours before the fire started, witnesses said they heard arguing. Martinez admitted to arguing with Morales after drinking alcohol and smoking meth together but denied starting the fire.

The fire caused roughly $1,000 worth of damage to the apartment. No injuries were reported.
