PHOENIX (CBS5) -
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed approval of Arizona's air quality plan to control sulfur dioxide and soot at three power plants in the state.
EPA is also proposing additional pollution controls for nitrogen oxide at these plants (Apache Generating Station, Cholla Power Plant and the Coronado Generating Station).
These actions will improve visibility and human health at 18 national parks and wilderness areas, including the Grand Canyon, Saguaro National Park and the Petrified Forest, the EPA said.
EPA will have an open house and public hearing from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Sandra Day O'Connor Federal Courthouse (atrium and juror room), 401 W. Washington St., Phoenix.
