FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AP) -
Poor water quality has forced the temporary closure of the popular Slide Rock State Park.
The Arizona Daily Sun reports that it's the first swimming ban of the season but likely not the last.
The park remained closed Tuesday.
The park just outside Sedona has a history of water quality problems during the summer months because of human waste and improper trash disposal.
The amount of E.coli in Oak Creek at times has hit 500 times what the state says is acceptable.
Water samples taken Sunday showed high levels of fecal coliform bacteria.
Officials are expected to decide early Tuesday whether to reopen the park based on tests of further water samples.
