Police K-9 bites man resisting arrest

GILBERT, AZ (CBS5) -

A man fighting with officers during his arrest on Saturday was bitten by a K-9 and taken to a Valley emergency room for treatment, Gilbert police said.

Wade Travis, 43, was apprehended near the area of Queen Creek and Power roads on a number of charges, including aggravated DUI, felony flight, aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.

Travis came to the attention of police after they received a call about suspicious activity in the area of 4200 E. Park. 

Travis was riding his motorcycle and failed to yield to officer's attempts to stop him, police said. He eventually laid his motorcycle down ran into an area of thick brush. Officers were able to find him with the help from the Mesa police helicopter and the Chandler and Mesa K-9 units.
