SAN LUIS, AZ (CBS5) -
Two Mexican nationals were arrested over the weekend in connection with separate attempts to smuggle methamphetamine and heroin into the U.S., federal officials said.
Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Luis Port of Entry referred Marisela Galindo, 24, for inspection of her vehicle Friday. Officers said they found nearly nine pounds of methamphetamine worth an estimated $136,000.
On Saturday, officers referred Hector Saenz Pacheco, 51, for inspection of his pickup truck. After a CBP narcotics detection K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs, officers said they located a package of heroin weighing more than four pounds and worth nearly $57,000.
In both incidents, the suspects were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations. The drugs and vehicles were seized.
