The monsoon found conditions favorable to deliver a mix of wind, dust and rain to the Valley Saturday night.
A dust storm warning had been in effect until 8 p.m. for the Greater Phoenix area, CBS 5 meteorologists said.
That warning also included the Casa Grande area, forecasters said.
Residents were advised that 25 to 35 mph winds with gusts up to 40 mph might be affecting their neighborhoods.
Visibilities were a quarter of a mile at time.
In the east Valley, a resident called 911 after hearing lightning hit his neighbor's home, fire officials said. No one was home.
Units arrived and saw smoke on the roof and an active fire in the attic. The blaze was extinguished. The fire remains under investigation.
