PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A Phoenix man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly robbing and sexually assaulting a woman in her home.
Byron Rivers, 20, admitted to police that he got into the home through an unlocked window and stole jewelry on Tuesday night, but he denied sexually assaulting the woman, according to the police report.
Police said a neighbor called 911 and reported that the victim was being held at knifepoint. Police arrived as Rivers walked out of the home removing rubber gloves, but was arrested soon after.
The victim identified Rivers as the man who sexually assaulted her, police said. She also told police she heard a woman with Rivers but didn't see her.
The victim told police that Rivers held her at knifepoint, stole property from her home and sexually assaulted her while wearing rubber gloves, according to police documents. He also burned her stomach with a lighter and threatened her 5-year-old son, police said.
Police said the victim had numerous cuts on her neck and chest where the knife was held, a burn on her stomach and a bruise on her arm where Rivers held her down with his weight. Medical staff found sexual-assault-related injuries during an exam.
Rivers admitted to drinking on the side of the home and entering with his girlfriend Teyona Chester, 20, police said. He also admitted to having a knife at the time, drinking alcohol in her kitchen and stealing property, but he told police he does not remember sexually assaulting the victim or holding her at knifepoint.
Police later arrested Chester who told police Rivers forced her to help at knifepoint. According to the police report, she has a mark on her chest and neck that matches her story. She also told police Rivers hit her back with a bike lock and has markings to match.
Chester said she entered the home through a bathroom window and opened the door for Rivers. According to the police report, Chester asked Rivers to leave the woman alone when he entered her bedroom but he refused. Chester left with two computers and a Nintendo Wii that she already gathered by the door.
She then went to the neighbor's house and asked the residents to call 911 explaining a man was in the home with a knife, police said. Chester then fled the area with the electronics but left behind gloves and a knife at the neighbor's home.
Rivers was booked into jail on five counts of sexual assault, one count of kidnapping, one count of aggravated assault, one count of burglary and one count of armed robbery.
Chester was arrested and booked on one charge of burglary and one charge of aggravated burglary.
All of the stolen material has been returned except the Nintendo Wii, police said.
