YUMA, AZ (AP) -
An effort to recall two members of the Yuma City Council has failed after some signatures were declared invalid.
Yuma resident Mitchell Dunn had initiated recall petitions against councilmen Paul Johnson and Jerry Stuart earlier this year.
He turned in more than the required 1,856 signatures for each councilman. But city officials announced Friday that not enough of those signatures were valid.
Dunn contends that some members of the City Council have abdicated their responsibilities to Yuma residents.
City administrator Greg Wilson said Friday that the city looks forward to getting back to business.
The terms for Johnson and Stuart expire at the end of 2013.
