FLORENCE, AZ (CBS5) -

An arrest warrant has been issued for a man found guilty of first-degree murder and child abuse in the death of an Arizona City girl.

Jose Lopez had posted bond after his arrest in the 2007 death of 21-month-old Mia Alvarez and was required to attend his trial.

The Pinal County Attorney's Office said he was nowhere to be found Thursday when a jury announced its verdict.

The county Superior Court has issued a warrant for his arrest.

Prosecutors said sentencing will take place once Lopez is captured.

Lopez had been babysitting for his fiancee in Arizona City in July 2007. Authorities said Lopez seriously injured the toddler, who died days later at a Phoenix hospital.

Lopez is described as 5'10" tall, weighing 200 pounds and has brown hair.

If you have information, call the Pinal County Sheriff's Office at 800-420-8689.
