COCONINO COUNTY, AZ (CBS5) -

The Coconino County Sheriff's Department is investigating a fatal collision between a pickup truck and a train Friday morning near Ash Fork.

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train was stopped on the tracks about 14 miles north of Ash Fork when a railroad employee driving a modified truck that could drive on the tracks crashed into the train, investigators said.

The employee, 41-year-old Jason Lacy, of Williams, was pronounced dead on scene, deputies said. He was responsible for monitoring and maintaining the tracks.

Deputies said evidence on the scene indicates that Lacy crashed directly into the back of the train around 6:30 a.m.
