Police seek Phoenix store robbery suspect

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Police are looking for a man they said robbed a Phoenix Family Dollar Store with a hammer on July 14.

Police said the man entered the store at 4725 E. Southern Ave. around 4:40 p.m. and began putting items in a hand basket while walking around the store.

He tried to walk out of the store without paying when he was confronted by a store manager.

The suspect threatened the manager with a hammer and then walked out of the store, according to police.

No one was injured.

The man is black, 40 to 50 years old, 5'9" to 6' tall and 180 to 200 pounds. He was wearing no shirt, blue mesh shorts and a Dallas Cowboys cap.

Silent Witness has offered a $1,000 reward for information that leads to his arrest.
