TUCSON, AZ (AP) -
A 55-year-old bridge over the Gila River in southern Arizona is being replaced.
The state Department of Transportation said a concrete girder bridge will take the place of the 1957 steel girder bridge on U.S. 70 near Bylas.
The $12.7 million project is expected to be complete this fall.
The bridge, which will have wider lanes, emergency shoulders, walkways and other upgrades, will be paved next spring, along with the new highway approaches.
