FLORENCE, AZ (CBS5) -
Eight illegal immigrants were arrested by Pinal County Sheriff's deputies and Eloy officers after an attempted traffic stop Wednesday morning.
A lone deputy was following a 1999 Dodge van and a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck he said were speeding, according to Tim Gaffney of the Pinal County Sheriff's Office.
The driver of the pickup pulled off Eleven Mile Corner Road into an unmarked farm entrance, where several Hispanic males fled the truck on foot, Gaffney said.
Additional units arrived and with help from the Eloy Police Department, eight men identified as illegal immigrants were arrested and turned over to U.S. Border Patrol agents for processing, Gaffney said.
There was no other information concerning the van.
