PHOENIX (CBS5) -
The Phoenix Public Library will host vision screenings for children ages 5 to 16 at the following library locations:
- 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 24, Saguaro Library, 2808 N. 46th St.
- 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, Cesar Chavez Library, 3635 W. Baseline Rd.
- 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday July 26, Harmon Library, 1325 S. 5th Ave.
- 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, July 30, Palo Verde Library, 4402 N. 51st Ave.
- 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, Acacia Library, 750 E. Townley Ave.
Registration is not required, but space is limited. Screenings are free with a library card.
Children who require additional vision care will receive a voucher for a free comprehensive eye examination and eyewear (if needed) at specified EyeMasters locations.
The program is provided by Davis Vision's Focus on America - an outreach initiative to offer vision screenings free of charge to children.
Undiagnosed vision problems can slow children's development, particularly their ability to learn to read.
Library cards are free to Maricopa County residents and may be obtained at any library location. Customers may also preregister for a library card online.
