GOODYEAR, AZ (CBS5) -

On Tuesday, the city of Goodyear announced that Jeff Fiegenschuh has been hired as deputy city manager. Fiegenschuh was one of four finalists that went through a two-day interview. Those finalists were picked out from more than 177 applicants.

Fiegenschuh has nine years of city management experience in municipal government. Most recently he worked as village administrator in Shorewood, IL, a Chicago suburb with a population of 16,000. He managed nearly 70 employees and was responsible for the management and daily operations of all village departments.

"I am extremely excited to take on the important role of deputy city manager for the city of Goodyear," Fiegenschuh said. "This position really fits well with me because I believe in a team approach to leadership and management, and Goodyear already follows that philosophy."

Fiegenschuh's first day on the job is scheduled for August 20, 2012.
