Ariz regents president won't seek another contract

PHOENIX (AP) -

The president of the Arizona Board of Regents says he won't seek a contract extension to his existing three-year term that ends next June.

Tom Anderes announced his decision Tuesday. The board oversees Arizona's public university system.

The regents have opened a search to fill the position and don't expect to hire a search consultant. The board as a whole will serve as the search committee.

Anderes has undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Arizona and a doctorate from the University of Connecticut.

Anderes says his future plans include teaching, volunteer work, more time with his family and possibly providing advice to other state systems, universities and colleges.
