Suns alumnus Mark West is giving back to the local basketball community.
West is hosting his 22nd annual South Mountain Education and Basketball Camp at the Salvation Army Phoenix Kroc Center.
The event started Monday and runs through Friday, July 27. The camp is offered to underserved youth in Arizona.
The former Suns center and current Vice President of Player Programs will offer basketball advice and life lessons. Also the kids will hear from community leaders who will discuss the importance of a good education, responsibility and handling peer pressure.
The camp is free and open to children 10 to 12 years old. Each child will receive a backpack with school supplies, a special camp T-shirt and a photo with Mark West.
