An Arizona legislator has followed through on filing an ethics complaint against another lawmaker.
Republican Rep. Brenda Barton of Payson last week accused Republican Sen. Rich Crandall of Mesa of disorderly conduct by abusing his Senate Education Committee chairmanship to bully her.
The complaint stems from a dispute related to Barton's witnessing a Crandall daughter taking down a campaign sign of Crandall's primary election opponent.
Crandall had accused Barton of verbally mistreating his daughter and he left Barton a voicemail saying she "better not" sponsor education bills during the next legislative session.
Barton denies any wrongdoing but says Crandall's conduct was unbecoming of a legislator and a gentleman.
Barton's complaint was filed Friday and distributed Monday to Senate Ethics Committee members who will decide what to do about it.
