Timothy Cofer
TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -
Tempe police arrested a man Friday for allegedly kidnapping, kicking and cutting his pregnant girlfriend while staying at an apartment they didn't own.
A woman called police and said she had been cut on the face and legs and kicked in the stomach by Timothy Howard Cofer, 23, police said. She told police she was five months pregnant with Cofer's child.
The victim said Cofer used methamphetamines and heroin and accused her of cheating on him, according to the police report.
Cofer allegedly forced the victim to undress and perform oral sex, punched her in the face and cut her with an 8-inch knife, authorities said.
The victim tried to escape several times but Cofer stood in front of the door and told her she would not escape alive, police said. When she finally escaped, she hid in a neighbor's apartment.
Cofer fled, and police found him hiding in a nearby apartment complex.
Police learned that the apartment Cofer and the victim were staying at was registered to someone else, who recently moved out. The victim told police the apartment was not theirs, and she had no reason why they used it.
Cofer was booked into jail on one count of aggravated assault, one count of sexual assault, one count of kidnapping, one county of trespassing and one count of burglary.
