PHOENIX (CBS5) -
The National Transportation Safety Board said a June helicopter crash near Camp Verde that left four dead was caused by a collision with a cable that spanned a section of the canyon.
The NTSB said the Aerospatiale AS305B was flying low through the Verde River canyon approximately 6.8 miles southeast of Camp Verde when it collided with the cable on around noon June 30.
The cable pulley system was found severed about 300 feet north of where the wrecked helicopter was discovered. The cable was elevated about 40 to 50 feet above the river.
The private pilot and three passengers were all killed. Among the victims were Raymond Perry, 70, Karen Stinn, 68, Mike Dunaway, 63, andLinda Dunaway, 64.
The helicopter was piloted by Perry who was the CEO of Arribas Mexican Grill.
