PHOENIX (AP) -
A 10-mile stretch of U.S. 60 through the Salt River Canyon about 40 miles northeast of Globe has been reopened after a rock slide was cleared.
That's good news for any drivers headed from Phoenix to northeastern Arizona this weekend.
Arizona Department of Transportation officials say the rock slide was caused by recent heavy rain in the area.
Until the rock slide was cleared, drivers traveling between Phoenix and Show Low had to use State Route 87 and State Route 260 as an alternative.
Motorists traveling between Globe and Show Low used State Routes 188, 87 and 260 through Payson.
