A Gilbert man accused of carjacking several vehicles while naked and allegedly causing crashes that injured seven people in Scottsdale has pleaded not guilty in the case.

Maricopa County prosecutors said 45-year-old John Hugh Brigham entered his plea Thursday. His next court appearance is on Sept. 6.

Scottsdale police took Brigham to a hospital for an evaluation after the June 29 incident and a toxicology test showed he had the drug PCP in his system.

Witnesses said the carjacker exited a vehicle after the first crash, took off his clothes and stole another vehicle.

Police said four people were injured in the second crash, including a pregnant woman who suffered two broken legs.

Brigham is accused of endangerment, theft, robbery, DUI, aggravated assault causing serious physical injury and other charges.
